First off, I’d like to take this opportunity to give a big, heartfelt Thank You to all of you who placed a custom order, purchased one of my knives, participated in one of my raffles, shared my photos, showed support, etc… I couldn’t do this without the support and appreciation for my work that you all continue to show and it means the world to me and my family.
2019 was a big year for myself and the business. In addition to becoming a father and moving my shop to a new location, I offered up total spots last year for custom work and ultimately ended up capping out at custom knives and around knives total for the year. Unfortunately, due to the sometimes unpredictable nature of knife making and some poor time management on my part, I managed to fall embarassingly behind on a few custom orders which I am just now wrapping up this month. I vow for that to never happen again so this year I will only be offering a limited number of spots for custom work. The minimum price for custom work will also be set at $500. This limited number of spots and slightly higher pricetag will allow me to give each of these customs the full attention they deserve and ensure that each one is crafted to the requested parameters with an increased quality of work and presentation.
With a smaller amount of custom work being offered, this is going to enable me to spend a bit more time on stocking my online store and retail shop with ready-to-purchase inventory. With that being said, I will also be working on moving away from social media a bit and diversifying the way I connect with potential customers. I will be creating an email list and newsletter that you can sign up for so that you’ll be the first to know of monthly knife drops and inventory additions. I will also be expanding my knife making skills to include more forged knives and pattern welded steel this year which I simply did not have the time to do with so many custom orders on the books in 2019.
Lastly, one of my main focuses for 2020 is going to be to make it to Blade Show East as an exhibitor and possibly Blade Show West if all goes swimmingly. This means I will be working on more one-off projects of the highest quality that will really push the extent of my knife making abilities and be worthy of a table in June.
If you would like to get on my books for custom work this year, please swing by the “How to Order” page and let me know what your looking for so that we can make 2020 your sharpest year yet!
